After this year's retreat, many of our guests didn't want to leave. A taste of Costa Rica made them hungry for more of this magical country and they wished they were staying longer. So this year we want to encourage all of you coming to do a retreat to come a little early and have a wellness vacation. We can help with ideas, recommendations, advice and transportation. Be a tourist for a few days before your cleanse.
Every part of Costa Rica has it's share of fascinating places to visit - beaches, volcanos, nature preserves, museums. As you leave the airport and make your way to the retreat center you are entering the Southern Pacific Zone, an especially wonderful area. Here is an overview of places to visit on your journey here....
JACO
If you like some action you can stay in Jaco, a bustling beach town with a fabulous beach and lots of shops and restaurants. Or continue south where the ocean water is warm and the beaches are quiet, with just a few surfers and some pelicans for company.
MANUEL ANTONIO
Manuel Antonio National Park is just outside of Quepos. Here you will see tons of wildlife - sloths, huge iguanas, tropical birds, butterflies and the too-tame, white-faced monkeys - but watch out, they will open your backpack and steal stuff if you're not looking! Or take a boat trip from the marina, see dolphins and do a little snorkeling.
MANTAPALO
In Matapalo you'll find a few hotels where you can stay right on the beach - fall asleep to the peaceful sounds of the ocean waves.
HORSEBACK RIDING
We love the horseback trip to Nauyaca Falls, an easy ride through the wilderness with a delicious breakfast and lunch stop, and a dip in the pristine waters below an amazing waterfall.
ZIP-LINE
There's the quintessential Costa Rica experience, the zipline. Impress your friends back home with pictures of you zooming over the rainforest! Our local zipline, Hacienda Baru is also an amazing nature center, a place to learn a little about the diverse ecosystems and fascinating local wildlife.
DOMINICAL
Just down the road from our center is Dominical, a perfect spot to begin so many adventures, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, surf lessons - even watching others do these things is fun!
You'll also have some great experiences during your time with us. We take a trip to the beach every week and offer guided hikes to nearby swimming holes. There are acres of hiking trails right here on the property and if you're lucky the howler monkeys will come around and wake you up in the morning. We hope you'll consider having it all, a wellness vacation you'll never forget. Don't miss it, you've come this far!
