Doing the Cleanse at Home - coffee enemas(part 4)

Even if you can't make it to our Mariposa cleanse this year I hope you are taking care of yourself! Most of us need a spring cleaning or post- holiday reset. As you create your own program for detoxing, be sure to include coffee enemas. As I mentioned in my last post, I probably have more conversations about enemas than almost anyone. People are surprised and intrigued when I say that if I do an enema I always do a coffee implant. It's my reward for doing the enema. It's kind of a high, not a hyped up speedy caffeinated high, just a deep sense of well being. Especially nice when you're detoxing, and feeling a little deprived. A little euphoria goes a long way.

Of course I'm going to tell you why it helps your cleanse but aren't we all tired of doing things just because we know they're good for us? We want to feel it, really feel it! I hope that motivates you as much as the health benefits.

This is how a coffee enema works:

What we're actually talking about is a coffee implant - which is done after a regular enema. It's not primarily a colon cleanse but a liver cleanse.

The theobromine, theophylline, and the caffeine in coffee open blood vessels and bile ducts in the liver and increase the flow of bile. An enzyme system in the liver called glutathione S-transferase is increased by 600%-700% above normal levels. This enzyme neutralizes free radicals in the bloodstream which cause cell damage. Toxins are dissolved in the bile, flushed through the bile flow from the liver and gallbladder, and excreted through the intestinal tract. And it's so easy to do.

  • Put 2 T ground organic coffee (not decaf!) in about 2 cups of water and simmer it for about 5 minutes.

  • Let it sit for another 5-10 minutes.

  • Strain through a strainer, french press, or cloth - not a bleached coffee filter.

Before you use it, make sure your strained coffee is room-temp or slightly warm. You should not put hot coffee in your colon!

  • Do a regular enema.

  • When that seems complete, implant the coffee and try to keep it in 12-15 minutes. The vascular system that communicates with the liver is in the sigmoid, the lower section of the colon, so it is not necessary to coax the implant deep into the colon.
